Complete Game Lifts Visiting Rebels to Victory Over Utes

Summary

UNLV got a complete game from pitcher Derek Rodriguez and pulled away late to take an 11-3 win over the University of Utah Sunday afternoon at Franklin Covey Field.

The Utes trailed by just one run, 4-3, after six innings. But the home squad simply ran out of pitching. UNLV roughed up Utah reliever Josh Cooper in the top of the seventh, scoring four runs to take control of the contest. The Rebels' Mike Cruz tripled to drive in a run and then scored in front of a Zeke Parraz home run to left, giving UNLV a 7-3 advantage. A Ryan Bird RBI double chased Cooper and gave the Rebels an 8-3 lead.
