Competition Is All Around Us

Summary


I was astounded that a recent Deseret News editorial bemoaned our apparent lack of enthusiastic competition in quests to create better technology or to improve health and education. That competition is, in fact, all around us. It's called capitalism. And it has generated a quality of life our ancestors could never even dream of.

I will say, though, that sadly this competition has largely been ignored or, worse, disdained. If we want more enthusiastic competition in technology, education and health care, we need to dramatically reduce the government involvement in these fields.
