Changing Stance Can Be Good

Summary

Curiously, all the politicians promote themselves as wanting change, yet they attack their opponents at every opportunity for any perceived change in their position or philosophy. For my money, a person who can learn from experience, is willing to listen to alternative viewpoints and has the humility and integrity to adopt a better reasoned view on any issue is exactly the kind of person I would like to have as president.

Stubborn adherence to a position (think Bush administration) characterizes those who cannot or will not learn from mistakes. So it doesn't bother me that Mitt Romney, Barack Obama or any of the other candidates may have changed a position or two. In fact, maybe that's a positive instead of a negative. More important, perhaps we voters should be willing to change our views, candidate preference or even party if there are sound reasons to do so.
