PROVO -- BYU needed a big comeback to emerge on top of a high- scoring, back-and-forth battle with cross-town rival UVSC on Tuesday at Miller Park, posting a 12-8 win over the Wolverines.

After spotting BYU a one-run lead in the first, the Wolverines blew the game open with a six-run, two-out romp in the third inning. Catcher Derrck Thomas jump-started the sputtering Wolverines when he stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and cranked a base- clearing double into center field.
