Summary
I suspect that the "Merry Christmas" resolution would not have been an issue, were it not for the fact that it was raised by Sen. Chris Buttars. For some reason, there seems to be a field day among the press to speak out against this man. The Deseret News is wrong on this count as well. I met Buttars five years ago as part of an effort to help enact some medical reform in the state of Utah. I have seen a very different side of Chris than is reported in the paper.
On one occasion I was at the Capitol and a man came up to Chris and embraced him. He said quietly, "Thank you for saving my son." Apparently Chris had been instrumental in saving not only this son from drugs but many other troubled kids during his extended tenure as head of the Boys Ranch of Utah.See the full content of this document
