WASHINGTON -- Senators who favor a permanent ban on taxes on Internet access broke a months-long impasse and took the legislation to the Senate floor on Monday as President Bush called the ban critical to increasing the availability of high-speed broadband service.
During an appearance in Minnesota, Bush noted that the United States currently ranks 10th internationally for high-speed Internet availability and said a tax on the service would hinder broader access.
