Summary
Loss of the trees at the State Capitol is sad not only for area residents but for many beyond the immediate neighborhood. A beautiful and stately elm (I believe), fully 100 yards from the Capitol Building itself, was cut to the ground.
Sadder still is the disingenuousness of those responsible. The lack of public knowledge was deliberate. Acting on the premise that it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission, they did their little deed by figurative dark of night.See the full content of this document
