Summary
Southern Utah's football team will be looking to do something it hasn't done in 20 years tonight when it squares off against Cal Poly in the Great West Football Conference opener for both teams -- win in San Luis Obispo.
Since the Thunderbirds opened the series with a 43-33 win over Cal Poly in the 1986 season finale, the Thunderbirds have dropped nine straight contests at Mustang Stadium. SUU (3-1) bounced back from its only loss of the season with a solid 30-21 win over 2005 I- AA semi-finalist Texas State last Saturday. The Thunderbirds opened the season with back-to-back home wins -- over NAIA Montana Tech (34- 0) and NCAA Division II Western State (55-3) -- before dropping a 24- 13 decision at Weber State, the team's first road game as well as its first contest against a team from its own NCAA Division I-AA.See the full content of this document
