'Art Meets History' at Uvsc Library

Summary

OREM -- Art, geology and history students at Utah Valley State College have a new resource in an exhibit titled "Art Meets History" now on display in the Library Art Gallery in the Losee Center.

The exhibition features 21 drawings of the John Wesley Powell expedition created by Utah artist Dean Fausett. On May 24, 1869, Powell led 10 men with four boats into the waterways at Green River, Wyo., to explore one of the last unmapped areas of the United States -- the Green and Colorado River systems and the Grand Canyon. On Aug. 30, 1869, just six men and two boats emerged from the canyon. Three of the original 10 were slain by Indians and a fourth gave up after the first month.
