Do Americans Get Outdated Medical Data Online?

Summary


About 113 million Americans have looked for health information or medical advice on the Internet. They usually start such a quest by using a search engine. And most of them don't check the date or the source of the information they find to determine how much weight it should be given.

Those are among the findings of a just-released survey by the Pew Internet & American Life Project. The report, written by Pew associate director Susannah Fox, was based on a telephone survey of 2,928 adults conducted in August.
