Air Passengers Need Recourse

Summary


It shouldn't have to take an act of Congress, but airline passengers are understandably fed up with how some airlines handle extraordinary delays on the tarmac. Now there is a move for Congress to establish a "Passengers Bill of Rights."

The bill, as envisioned by Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., would require air carriers to ensure passengers have access to food, water and adequate restroom facilities. It also would give passengers the right to safely deplane an aircraft that has remained on the ground more than three hours past its scheduled departure time.
